For David Pasquale, the transition from military service to civilian leadership was about more than finding the next job — it was about defining what the next chapter should look like.

Now a Deputy Program Manager at SAIC in the defense industry, David joined FourBlock as he prepared for his transition from the military. He was introduced to the program through his spouse, who had participated in the Military Spouse Career Readiness Program and encouraged him to experience the same community and support.

Through the Veteran Career Readiness Program, David gained tools and relationships that helped him navigate the transition process, including the guidance of his FourBlock coach.

“The coaching relationship I had was extremely valuable,” David shared. “It was built on mutual respect and vulnerability from both sides, and that honesty helped me work through some of the more challenging aspects of the transition as they occurred.”

While David found value in the FourBlock curriculum, he also learned an important lesson about timing — recognizing that career transition is a process that continues well beyond the first step.

The skills he developed through FourBlock stayed with him and became valuable as he moved closer to transition, applying them during networking conversations and interviews.

His advice to the next generation of veterans?

“Spend the time necessary to understand what you want from a job in the next phase of your life. Ask yourself whether you want to maintain the same level of commitment and intensity that you gave to the military, or whether you are looking for something different.”

Today, David continues to support the FourBlock community as an alumnus and Coach/CRI, helping others navigate their own transition journeys.

His story is a reminder that successful transitions are built through preparation, reflection, and relationships — and that the right community can make all the difference.
